THE CAVE

Hey guys! Thought I would post another one! Feel free to jump in at any time!

I never thought of the cave as a conversation between man and God, but once I read that in the blog I was blown away. I don't know if that was the intent, but if it is, whoo wee what a gnarly song.

It is such a beautiful and accurate story beginning with God looking at us in our sin and not reprimanding us but just saying simply:

"It's empty in the valley of your heart"

Its empty in there, come to me! He continues by saying:

"But I will hold on hope, (that you will come to me) And I won't let you choke on the noose around your neck (your sin and death)"

I won't give up on you. I will not let you fall.

Unfortunately we so frequently answer with:

"'Cause I have other things to fill my time You take what is yours and I'll take mine"

To which god answers:

"So come out of your cave"

Once more we reply:

And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say

I love this next bit because so often i tell God I'm not interested and then immediately change my mind, "I don't need you God, wait wait I didn't mean it, God I need freedom!":

'Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be

Do I trust that he won't give up on me? Do I believe I am good enough for his love? Am I hiding in my cave? All great questions that I ask myself after this song.

Love,
Theo

Week One: Devo One: SIGH NO MORE

Gosh, Starting off the series with my most favorite Mumford song.

So Exciting.

Post your thoughts in the Comments section!

WELCOME & SUMMER

Hey Team!

Noodle here.  One day when I was sitting around missing all of you I thought to myself, "self, why sit around missing these fools when you can hang out with them on the internet twice a week?"

Right?

So here we are!

My main goal with this super-hip-with-the-modern-Jesus-vibes blog is to unite us in thought as we prepare our hearts for serving 11-13 year-old ragamuffins come Fall.  One of the most wonderful things (in my humble opinion) about Wyldlife is that we get to invite our young friends into authentic, loving community.  I think Step One to achieving this cool community--that is so opposite to the weirdness that happens in J. High-- is having a very unified, very connected, loving team of leaders.  Whether or not we feel qualified to be called "leaders", (I sometimes don't! but thats foine bc Jesus is the most qualified and he's our homeboy), we ARE leaders and kids do look up to us.  They will see the way we love each other and our authenticity with each other and they will be so attracted to that.  What a freakin privilege!

With that said, team, I invite y'all to do two of these fun Mumford & Son's devotionals a week.  With a mellow "due date" on approximately Wednesday and Saturday? That can totally change if we want.  The plan is that we post our thoughts on this blog each time!  I encourage you to post your thoughts about what you read, about something else you read somewhere else, a cool conversation you had that week, prayer requests, some cool silly Jesus moment you had, QUESTIONS (thats always fun!), and anything else!  I want this to be an authentic and lighthearted but also exciting and hopefully life-giving little devotional series for us all.

To get the ball rollin here, let's update each other on summer stuff! (also because some of you have never met it would be swell if you wrote a little "hello this is me" blurb!)!

Where are you?  What are you up to?  Do you have a job? Are you going on any trips?  Tell us a funny little story if you like.  What is God doing in your life this Summer?  Do you miss SLO?  Are you mega stoked to be home?  Are you in SLO (hi Deigs)?

Respond in the comment section with your "hello this is me" and your summer stuff!

I am so excited to hear everyone's thoughts, I miss you all so much and I can't wait for the Fall (hellooooooo Houseboats!!!)

LOVE LOVE LOVE,
Noodle

PS: if you don't have a nickname we should probably work on that
